Provided below is some general information regarding guidelines and specifications for 'The Groundsman' magazine. If you have any specific queries that are not addressed here, please feel free to contact us .

Advertising Guidelines

Please read these guidelines carefully and take note of suggested requirements. If followed correctly, your advert in 'The Groundsman' will be more appealing and may achieve a quick sale!

Text

Using the online advert booking request form is the easiest option for advertising a single item. Just fill in the relevant information where indicated and then submit it. If you have multiple items that are appearing in a single advert (e.g. a full page), text can be saved in any text-based file (Word, Notepad, etc) and emailed to us as an attachment, or the text can just typed directly into your email. Handwritten copy is fine as long as it is legible. If you feel that your handwriting may not be clear to others (especially if it going to be faxed), consider having it typed. If you don’t have access to email, then a typed fax is an excellent alternative. Hard copy, handwritten or typed, can be posted or faxed .

Images

The following factors can mean the difference between a fantastic and a horrible photograph. Adhering to these points is strongly recommended and proven to improve advertisement quality and appeal:

  • Choose an area in good sunlight, with grass or a nice, smooth surface and garden or trees in the background.

  • It is highly inadvisable to capture photos on rough, hard surfaces, as this may detract from the machinery’s over all appearance and the potential buyer may not agree with a mower being demonstrated on a surface that can damage blades.

  • Try to avoid using an old shed or wall as a background. Depending on the wall’s colour and markings, it can be detrimental to the overall appeal of a machine.

  • Unless absolutely necessary, do not take images inside a building or under dark shelter. The shadows, overall light intensity and other items surrounding the stock for sale can affect the image quality.

  • The angle of the machine should be considered. Standing off-centre at the front of the machine allows the reader to see at least two sides of the machine, rather than just the front or just the side.

  • Don't get too close. You might accidentally cut off some parts of the machine in your photo. Allow ample room between the edge of your machine and the edge of your photograph.

Having access to a quality digital camera can guarantee a quality photo will remain a quality photo. The best method for delivering digital pictures is via email. If you don’t have access to email, photos burnt onto a CD (3.5” floppy disks not accepted) and posted to us is the next best step. All scanned photographs should be 300dpi at approximately 150mm x 100mm. If a digital camera is used ensure it is 3 megapixels or higher. A hardcopy print of your photo(s) posted to us will suffice, but the overall quality will not be close to that of the original digital photo. Please note that all copy posted to us cannot be returned.

PDF Files

Pre-set adverts made by a Private advertiser and supplied as a PDF must be in CMYK format (RGB not accepted), have all fonts embedded or turned to outlines, with images having a final output resolution of 300dpi. Ideally, the PDF would be made using Acrobat Distiller, as PDFWriter (and PDF export options straight from publishing programs) may not meet the above requirements. M.M.More Publications Pty Ltd accepts no responsibility for unexpected results from supplied PDFs.
